Job summary

Join Wellstar Health System at Columbia County Medical Center as a Monitor Technician. The role supports safe patient care by observing cardiac monitors, reporting arrhythmias, and coordinating with the nursing staff on a 36-hour weekly schedule (3/12 shifts) during full-time nights.

Responsibilities include recording telemetry data, maintaining equipment and logs, and providing strong customer service while protecting patient confidentiality in a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
• Monitor technician experience in acute care setting preferred; participation in EKg monitoring course recommended.

Responsibilities

• Observes Telemetry Monitors and recognizes arrhythmias.
• Records telemetry strips and ensures 12-hour strips are printed and distributed per policy.
• Interprets rhythms and age-related differences.
• Excellence in customer service with health care team, patient and family.
• Maintains confidentiality and protects patient rights.
• Communicates with physicians and healthcare team; notifies RN of rhythm changes.
• Maintains required unit dispensation records and monitor logs.
• Prepares telemetry unit for patient use and keeps equipment organized.
• Reports broken equipment to Manager and Biomed.
• Supports unit performance improvement and team communication.
• Performs other duties as assigned; complies with policies and code of conduct.
