Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL, is seeking a Monitor Technician to observe telemetry monitors, document findings, and promptly report abnormalities. This role supports nursing staff and participates in ongoing training to maintain competency in patient monitoring within a hospital setting.

The position requires reading and writing English, basic computer skills, and a patient-centered approach. Prior hospital experience is preferred, with opportunities for development in telemetry and patient care.

Qualifications

• Monitor technician experience or successful completion of AdventHealth Monitor Technician training program or equivalent.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak conversational English.
• Proficiency in the English language.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Pleasant telephone manner and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with patients/public in potentially difficult situations.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• Completion of basic arrhythmias identification course in orientation.
• Good oral, written, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Documents in accordance with department policy and maintain telemetry logbook.
• Observes monitors, recognizing and documenting normal and abnormal ECG patterns and promptly notify nursing staff of abnormalities.
• Maintains monitor alarms per policy and ensures alarms are audible every shift.
• Troubleshoots monitors as needed and supports departmental quality standards.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills and performs other duties as assigned.
