Job summary

AdventHealth in Daytona Beach, FL is hiring a Monitor Technician to observe telemetry monitors, document events, and promptly notify nursing staff of abnormalities. The role requires strong English communication, attention to alarms, and adherence to department policies.

Ideal candidates have basic arrhythmias training, good typing skills, and a willingness to work flexible shifts including weekends and nights. Comprehensive training and support are provided as part of the team.

Qualifications

• Monitor technician experience or completion of AdventHealth Monitor Technician training or equivalent.
• Read, write, and speak conversational English.
• Proficiency in English language.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Pleasant telephone manner and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with patients/public in potentially difficult situations.
• Completion of basic arrhythmias identification course in orientation.
• Good oral, written, and communication skills.
• Ability to continuously prioritize multiple duties.
• Familiar with medical terminology and arrhythmia identification.
• Ability to learn and complete a competency check off list within 90 days of employment.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and overtime.
• Customer service skills.
• Knowledge of hospital nursing practices, telemetry monitor, and infection control procedures.
• Basic knowledge of computer use.
• Ability to provide patient-centered care across age groups.

Responsibilities

• Document in accordance with department policy and maintain telemetry logbook.
• Observe monitors, recognize and document normal and abnormal EKG patterns.
• Notify nursing staff of abnormalities.
• Maintain monitor alarms per policy and troubleshoot as needed.
• Participate in practice changes from performance improvement activities.
• Support departmental quality standards and initiatives.
• Learn and upgrade skills through ongoing education.
• Maintain telemetry printouts during cardiac arrest as indicated.
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team about patient status.
