Job summary

UF Health North in Jacksonville is seeking a Monitor/EMU Tech to continuously monitor EKG rhythms and recognize dysrhythmias, promptly notifying the RN of significant changes. You will produce rhythm strips, maintain telemetry equipment, and support EMU testing and seizure monitoring across units.

Requirements include a GED or high school diploma; preferred PCA, Medic Corpsman, or nursing student who has completed the first clinical rotation.

Qualifications

• Requires GED or High School Diploma; preferred PCA/Medic Corpsman or nursing student with clinical rotation completed.
• EKG/Dysrhythmia training to be completed within 90 days of hire and ongoing unit-based courses.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and EKG rhythms for assigned patients.
• Recognize and identify cardiac dysrhythmias and significant rhythm changes.
• Immediately notify the RN of pertinent changes in heart rate or rhythm.
• Produce and maintain telemetry rhythm strips for documentation.
• Inventory, troubleshoot, and maintain telemetry monitoring equipment.
• Observe EMU patients for seizure activity and document findings.
• Notify RN of observed seizure activity or significant events.
• Ensure EMU monitoring equipment is maintained, functional, and stocked.
• Support continuous patient monitoring with accurate documentation and functioning systems.
