Job summary

UF Health North in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Monitor/EMU Tech to continuously monitor EKG rhythms and telemetry for assigned patients. You will promptly notify the RN of rhythm changes and help produce rhythm strips for documentation.

Responsibilities include maintaining EMU equipment, inventory, and observing seizure activity, while ensuring equipment is functional and properly stocked. GED or HS diploma required; completion of an EKG/Dysrhythmia course within 90 days of hire is expected.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• Must complete an EKG/Dysrhythmia course within 90 days of hire.
• Less than one year of related experience required.
• Healthcare monitor tech experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and EKG rhythms for assigned patients.
• Recognize and identify cardiac dysrhythmias and other significant rhythm changes.
• Immediately notify the RN of pertinent changes in a patient’s heart rate or cardiac rhythm.
• Produce and maintain accurate telemetry rhythm strips for patient documentation.
• Inventory, troubleshoot, and maintain telemetry monitoring equipment, including the central monitor bank and bedside units.
• Continuously observe patients undergoing EMU testing for seizure activity.
• Recognize and differentiate various seizure activities and document findings.
• Notify the RN of observed seizure activity or other significant events.
• Ensure EMU monitoring equipment is maintained, functional, and stocked within patient rooms.
• Maintain accurate documentation to support continuous patient monitoring.
