Job summary

UF Health Flagler Hospital is seeking a Monitor/EMU Tech to continuously monitor EKG rhythms and detect dysrhythmias. The role requires promptly notifying the nurse of significant changes and producing rhythm strips for telemetry patients.

You will also inventory and maintain EMU equipment, supervise patients on EMU therapy, document seizure activity, and communicate events to the RN. PRN schedule with evening shifts.

Qualifications

• Required Education: GED or High School Diploma; Monitor Technicians must complete an EKG/Dysrhythmia course within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred Education: PCA, Medic Corpsman, or a nursing student who has completed the first clinical rotation.
• Required Licensure/Certifications: Within 6 months of hire, must attend unit-based courses for the specialized area.
• Required Experience: Less than one year of related experience.
• Preferred Experience: One year or more in health care as a monitor technician.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitors EKG rhythms and recognizes dysrhythmias.
• Immediately notify the nurse of pertinent changes in patient heart rate and rhythm.
• Produce rhythm strips for telemetry patients.
• Inventory and maintain equipment for the main monitor bank and individual units.
• Observe all patients on EMU therapy, document seizure activity, and notify RN of events.
