Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer to support AUTEC in West Palm Beach, FL. You will ensure on-site communications readiness and security, while assisting remote-site troubleshooting and operations of PBX, LMR, wireless networks, and related systems.

Lead hardware and software upgrades, diagnose complex faults, and provide guidance to technicians under the supervision of the Communications Manager. Strong clearance is required for eligibility and travel to regional bases may occur.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Communication Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 8 years in a complex communication electronics environment.
• Strong understanding of computer networking and computer architecture.
• Experience using TDR, OTDR, spectrum analyzers, and communication test equipment.
• Must be a US Citizen eligible for a US Government security clearance.
• Travel approximately 10-20% to Andros Island, Bahamas or other military bases.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Maintain PBX telephone systems, voicemail, call accounting, digital intercoms, and CATV distribution networks.
• Oversee tactical radio systems, including trunked LMR systems, base stations, and repeaters at primary site while working remotely.
• Manage vertical and horizontal backbone topologies, fiber optic networks, and copper cable plants.
• Coordinate hardware and software modifications and system upgrades for all site telecommunications.
• Handle cryptographic systems and classified materials according to strict security protocols.
• Provide technical assistance, hands-on training, and daily guidance to department technicians.
• Perform preventive maintenance, corrective equipment repairs, and final testing using specialized diagnostic tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned
