Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Telecommunications Design Engineer to support complex infrastructure projects in critical facilities. The role is fully on site in Rock Hill, SC, ideal for early- to mid-career engineers with hands-on experience in structured cabling and multidisciplinary coordination.

Responsibilities include developing design requirements, coordinating backbone cabling, creating BOMs, and producing AutoCAD/REVIT construction drawings while applying NFPA and TIA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 2+ years in telecom structured cabling.
• Experience with inside/outside plant pathways, cabling systems, testing and design.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and in teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% and expand knowledge to new systems.
• Familiarity with CAD/BIM platforms (AutoCAD/REVIT).
• Certifications such as network, PE, or BICSI are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, identify, coordinate, and track project requirements through design lifecycle.
• Coordinate backbone/cabling, work area outlets, topology, and device locations with stakeholders.
• Prepare telecommunications space plans with Architecture, MEP, and Electronic Systems teams.
• Create detailed pathway designs inside/outside plant with BOMs and labeling docs.
• Produce construction drawings in AutoCAD/REVIT and prepare installation plans.
