Job summary

VT Group (VTG) seeks a Telecommunications Technician 2 in Guam to support complex installations, cabling, and system testing. You will install structured cabling (fiber/copper), build telecom closets, ensure seismic grounding, and verify system performance.

Ideal candidates have 5 years of related experience, knowledge of testing with Fluke, and familiarity with DoD-like environments. A valid driver’s license and PPE/tools are required.

Qualifications

• 5 years of related experience and/or training.
• Ability to calculate figures and apply basic algebra/geometry.
• Knowledge of database software and MS Office products.
• BICSI Level 2 certification is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must be local or within 50 miles of location.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must have PPE and basic hand tools for cabling technicians.
• Experience pulling copper/fiber and backbone/riser cabling.
• Experience in telecom room buildout (racks, grounding).
• Testing experience using Fluke or similar test sets for fiber and copper.
• CAC badge preferred; DoD Secret or higher clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees or assists in installing structured cabling systems (fiber optic and copper) per codes and standards.
• Oversees or assists in building telecommunication closets.
• Ensure seismic requirements for telecommunications installations.
• Ensure grounding and bonding comply with standards and codes.
• Ensure fire stopping procedures are followed and compliant with regulations.
• Test and troubleshoot structured cabling systems and verify performance.
• Maintain transmission fundamentals of copper and fiber media.
• Perform Outside Plant operations such as rodding, roping, fiber splicing and tipping.
• Review timesheets and expense reports for accuracy and submission.
