Job summary

Alaska Communications seeks a Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain telecommunications infrastructure, including legacy TDM and modern VoIP networks. You will support SS7 signaling, E911 services, and ensure secure, high‑performing systems across the organization.

Responsibilities include designing, deploying, and supporting TDM/DMS platforms (DMS-100/10), Redcom, Mitel, and MetaSwitch-based VoIP, along with SS7 for call routing and number portability.

Qualifications

• College diploma in computer science, computer information systems, or computer engineering.
• Relevant experience could be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain network infrastructure hardware and software.
• Configure and manage core and customer network services and devices.
• Troubleshoot network and system infrastructure issues and document resolutions.
• Manage backups and restoration protocols for servers and clusters.
• Plan and support network and computing infrastructure upgrades.
• Monitor system performance and tune for optimal operation.
• Maintain security across software and network platforms.
• Provide training on platforms, equipment, and related applications.
