Okaloosa County School System is seeking a GIS/Engineering technician to provide county-wide field and office support for GIS, engineering, surveying and telecommunications infrastructure. The role includes utility locates, plan reviews, CEI oversight, data collection and map preparation using ArcGIS, ArcPad and AutoCAD.

The successful candidate will have an Associate degree in a related field and at least two years’ experience in OSP telecommunications, GIS data collection, and utility

Qualifikationen

• Associate degree in surveying, engineering, GIS or related field.
• Minimum two years’ experience with outside plant telecommunications infrastructure construction, operations and maintenance.
• Proficiency with ARCGIS, AutoCAD and related software preferred.
• Experience with GIS data collection and utility permitting preferred.

Aufgaben

• Performs utility locates using all related detection methods to support county telecommunications utilities.
• Reviews construction and engineering plans and attends coordination meetings as liaison for construction projects.
• Creates and submits utility permits for approval by agencies at local, state and federal levels.
• Provides Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) and oversight to construction crews and projects.
• Plans and coordinates crews, materials and telecommunication-related projects.
• Plans and schedules construction and maintenance activities.
• Performs GIS/GPS field data collection and develops field procedures and quality control standards.
• Researches property deeds, certified corner records, survey notes and related information.
• Maintains county GIS database and related systems, including fiber optic and survey control networks.
• Prepares data and maps using ArcGIS, ArcPad, AutoCAD or related software.
