Job summary

Okaloosa Gas District is seeking a GIS Technician I to support GIS, GPS, and CAD workflows. You will convert hand drawings to GIS features, maintain spatial databases, and assist with technical documentation. The role requires basic mapping skills and a customer-focused approach within Operations.

Starting pay is $25.90/hour ($53,872 yearly) with a clear progression path through Technician I, II, and Senior levels. This position emphasizes safety, accuracy, and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of GIS, GPS, and CAD with limited supervision.
• Knowledge of converting hand drawn maps to GIS features.
• Experience with managing spatial databases and CAD drawings.
• Ability to read maps, plans, and survey notes.

Responsibilities

• Applies basic GIS, GPS and CAD with limited supervision.
• Reviews construction and maintenance work orders for engineered drawings.
• Supports creation, editing, and display of spatial data in GIS.
• Maintains and updates the Districts spatial database and map templates.
• Performs basic GIS analysis to create maps and reports.

Education

High School plus two years experience or GIS Certificate

Associates Degree GIS

Bachelors Degree GIS/Geography/CS/Geomatics
