Job summary

James Madison University is seeking a Telecommunications Technician to install, maintain, and document university-wide telecommunications infrastructure. You will read floor plans and utility maps, identify cable routes, and ensure safe, compliant installation of fiber and copper cabling.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Knowledge of telecommunications cabling systems (fiber, Cat5e/6/6A).
• Ability to install, maintain and upgrade CATV, network, and telecom infrastructure.
• Ability to read floor plans, utility maps, and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, test, and maintain telecommunications cabling and equipment.
• Accurately document completed work and label cables/infrastructure.
• Interact professionally with campus customers, contractors, and external partners.
