Job summary

City of Chesapeake Virginia is seeking an IT Telecommunications Engineer II to design, implement, and maintain the city’s unified communications and VoIP infrastructure. You will support Mitel MiCollab, Mitel Contact Center, and AWS Connect, ensuring high availability and secure communications across City services.

Ideal candidates have hands-on VoIP/SIP expertise, familiarity with Grandstream ATA devices, and strong documentation and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in CS, information systems, or a closely related field.
Minimum two years of related, full‑time experience.
Experience with VoIP, SIP, PBX architectures, and voice networks.
Experience with Mitel MiCollab and Mitel Contact Center platforms.
Familiar with AWS Connect configuration and Grandstream devices.

Responsibilities

Design, configure, and support enterprise telephony systems including Mitel MiCollab and PBX environments.
Administer and optimize Mitel Contact Center solutions (queue management, IVR, reporting, agent tools).
Manage VoIP and SIP-based services with secure signaling and media transport.
Support cloud contact center technologies including AWS Connect, integrations, call flows, and user provisioning.
Install, configure, and maintain Grandstream analog telephony interfaces and endpoints.
Monitor and troubleshoot call quality, SBC configurations, and network-related voice disruptions.
Participate in telecom lifecycle management including upgrades and vendor coordination.
Maintain documentation including architecture diagrams and runbooks.
Ensure security practices like voice network segmentation and encryption.
Provide Tier II/Tier III support for telecom incidents.
