Job summary

Abacus Technology Corporation is seeking a Telecommunications Mechanic I to install, remove, and relocate common telephone systems equipment in support of Base Telecommunications System (BTS) for the Joint Base Charleston. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities include installing, terminating, testing fiber optic cable, performing cabling, power, grounding, and preparing cables for terminations, all while following safety practices and established procedures.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of installation experience for telephone systems.
• Must be BICSI Installer 1 (INST1) certified.
• Experience with CAT5e/6, fiber cabling, VoIP, and remote alarm systems.
• Knowledge of manholes, conduits, and fiber/copper cable installations.
• U.S. citizenship; ability to pass government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cable per work orders.
• Perform cabling, power, grounding for equipment.
• Install various telecom equipment with minimal supervision.
• Prepare cables and terminations for testing.
• Test and verify up test of communications equipment.
• Adhere to safety and quality practices.
