Job summary

Abacus Technology Corporation is seeking an OSP Technician to install, remove, and relocate common telephone systems equipment in support of Base Telecommunications System (BTS) for the Joint Base Charleston. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities include installing, terminating, and testing fiber optic cable, cabling, grounding, and preparing equipment for terminations. The role requires 2+ years of installation experience, INST1 certification, and US citizenship.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in installation of telephone systems equipment and cabling plant.
• Must be BICSI Installer 1 (INST1) certified.
• Experience with CAT 5e/6, ISP/OSP fiber optic cabling, VoIP data administration, analog phones, fiber connectors, and remote alarm systems.
• Experience with copper and fiber optic cable splicing and testing.
• Experience with point-to-point dry circuits.
• Knowledge of manhole/hand hole, conduit, MaxCell, and fiber/copper cable installations.
• Experience with trenching as well as operating backhoes and excavators.
• Knowledge of DC power systems, OSHA standards, established safety and quality practices.
• Able to perform cabling, ironwork, wiring, basic splicing functions, cable and lead verification, use basic method of procedure for job species and drawings; ability to test and turn up various communications equipment.
• Must be a US citizen.
