Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Teen Program Coordinator at the Pearl Street Family YMCA in Tacoma, WA. This part-time role supports youth programs, mentors staff, and plans engaging teen activities to help teens grow and thrive.

You will work with the Youth & Teen Program Director to create welcoming spaces, develop Late Nite events, and ensure programs run smoothly. CPR/First Aid preferred; background checks required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
  • One to two years’ related experience as a coordinator of people or activities preferred.
  • Ability to use computer and typical business software and office machines.
  • Positive attitude and experience with teens and diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications, supervision, and file maintenance.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications preferred.
  • Must pass Background and Reference checks per WA State Fair Chance Act.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusive environment.
  • Willingness to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on day one.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and coordinating staff interviews, trainings, meetings, and teen events, including Late Nite programming.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans, curriculum, and new program ideas for teens.
  • Support supervision, mentoring, recognition, and development of part-time instructors, volunteers, and participants.
  • Visit program sites to ensure quality, safety, engagement, and YMCA standards.
  • Assist with managing teen behavior and fostering a positive, inclusive environment.
  • Support staff and program evaluations, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Create and manage staff schedules, class rosters, and timekeeping to maintain staffing ratios and budgets.
  • Monitor program budgets and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for families via phone, email, and in-person communication.

Job description

Position: Teen Program Coordinator

Wage: $20.06 to $20.74 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: Pearl Street Family YMCA, Tacoma, WA

The YMCA is looking for an enthusiastic Teen Program Coordinator to help bring our youth programs to life.

From planning exciting Late Nite events and developing engaging activities to mentoring staff, supporting families, and helping programs run smoothly.
