Job summary

Canton Township is seeking a part-time Youth Services Staff for the BLOCK Youth and Teen Center. You will lead and supervise activities for teens and at‑risk youth, transport participants safely, and help plan and run daily programs.

The role requires 18+ years of age, a valid driver's license, CPR/First Aid, CPI within deadlines, and ability to work afternoons/evenings; flexibility for weekends. Emphasis on customer service and program safety.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid Michigan Chauffeur License within 14 days of hire.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days.
• CPI certification within 90 days.
• Six months' experience with youth/at-risk populations preferred.
• Ability to operate a 12-passenger van with wheelchair lift.
• Ability to work afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise activities at the BLOCK Youth and Teen Center for teens and at-risk youth.
• Operate township vehicles and transport participants safely.
• Plan, supervise and coordinate youth activities and events.
• Set up, teardown and cleanup of programs and events.
• Supervise BLOCK participants and Community Development participants at recreation sites.
• Provide positive customer service to participants, families and community members.
• Enforce safety rules and department procedures; report issues.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; respond to emergencies (First Aid/CPR).
• Lead events as assigned and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
• Prepare facilities, equipment and supplies; maintain reports.
