Job summary

Illinois Education Job Bank seeks a Director of Technology to provide strategic leadership for the district's technology initiatives and governance. You will oversee project lifecycle from needs identification through post-implementation review and maintain a comprehensive tech roadmap aligned with budget and priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Project Management, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or related field.
• Proven track record of managing complex technology projects through full lifecycle.
• Experience managing technology vendors, contracts, budgets, timelines and stakeholders.
• Experience in a large, multi-department organization.
• PMP certification or comparable PM credentials preferred.
• Experience in a K-12 educational environment beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and executive oversight for the District's technology projects and initiatives.
• Establish and oversee governance, policies, standards, prioritization, decisions, and change governance.
• Lead technology initiatives through full project lifecycle from needs to post-implementation review.
• Develop and communicate a comprehensive technology roadmap with priorities, timelines, and budgets.
• Oversee ongoing status reporting to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Identify, research, evaluate, and recommend technology solutions considering security, cost, and sustainability.
• Lead procurement processes with Finance and Operations including vendor selection and contracts.
• Manage relationship with managed technology providers and monitor SLAs and performance.
• Oversee outsourced technology technicians and services and coordinate with internal teams.
• Directly supervise the Coordinator for Technology and set expectations for operations and user support.
• Develop and manage technology budget and multi-year capital plans in alignment with priorities.
