Job summary

Crowell & Moring LLP seeks a Director of Technology Strategy and Portfolio Management to partner with the CIO and elevate IT as a value‑generating function. You will lead the firm’s technology strategy, planning, and delivery, translating priorities into measurable technology initiatives.

You will steer portfolio governance, drive continuous improvement, and deliver executive‑level reporting while overseeing budgeting, vendor contracts, and cross‑functional collaboration across the firm.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of technology strategy, portfolio management, IT operations, governance, budgeting, and vendor management.
• Experience with project and portfolio management tools, including AI integration.
• Ability to translate business priorities into practical technology plans, investment recommendations, and measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development of the firm’s annual technology strategy aligned with business priorities and goals.
• Lead technology portfolio management: intake, prioritization, sequencing, resourcing, and benefits realization.
• Drive IT governance, architecture alignment, and cross‑functional collaboration with stakeholders.
• Direct strategic programs from planning through delivery with clear ownership and milestones.
• Ensure service delivery excellence, changes management, and effective client communications.
• Develop executive reports that communicate impact of improvements and initiatives.
• Establish KPIs, SLAs, and reporting to meet or exceed user expectations.
• Oversee IT budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization with vendor management.
• Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with procurement vendors.
• Develop IT policies, governance, and operating standards for accountability.
