Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a senior technology leader to direct the Metering organization's strategy, delivery, and support of critical metering and Meter-to-Cash systems. You’ll partner with business leaders to align roadmaps with operational goals and customer needs.

You will build diverse, high-performing teams, ensure safety and regulatory compliance (NERC CIP), manage budgets, and drive resilience, continuity planning, and cyber/physical security across the technology stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• 8+ years of technology experience with 4–6 years of direct supervision preferred.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, governance, and compliance capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic direction, delivery, and support of technology solutions for the Metering organization.
• Build and sustain relationships with operating companies, business units, and tech teams.
• Manage risk, prioritization, staffing, and budget planning for technology initiatives.
• Ensure safety, reliability, and compliance (NERC CIP) across infrastructure and solutions.
• Oversee business continuity and disaster recovery planning as needed.

Partners closely with business leaders to align technology strategies, roadmaps, and investments with operational objectives and customer needs. Promotes and applies Technology processes and solutions to meet the needs and align with the strategies of the Metering organization. Responsible for directly managing and developing technology staff, building and sustaining collaborative relationships with operating companies, business units, and technology teams. Lead the teams to complete projects and/or services and perform all technology work activities via efficient processes and effective use of resources.Responsibilities include decision making, risk assessment, task prioritization/assignment/tracking, project assignment, employee development, performance feedback, motivation, team building, communication, planning, resource allocation, cost control, problem/issue/conflict resolution, customer service, and client relations.
