Job description

Castle Rock School District is seeking to hire a qualified individual for the position of Director of Technology. Under the general direction of the Superintendent, the Director will be responsible for the administration of the Information Technology department, technology leadership within the district, as well as promoting the use of technology in the classroom.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Depending upon individual assignment, the Director of Technology performs all or a combination of several of the following duties. This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.

  • Oversees all technology and technoklogy connected systems in the district.
  • Assists with the coordination of staff development in technology.
  • Participates as an integral part of the district assessment and data work group.
  • Consults with users on system requirements, organization, and operations; identifies problems and defines user needs.
  • Gathers and analyzes systems data for the purpose of identifying systems problems; designs solutions to identified and defined problems.
  • Provides technology user support for district employees and/or students.
  • Oversees the development, implementation and maintenance of the District Technology Plan.
  • Oversees the maintenance of the district hardware and software inventory.
  • Supervise, evaluate, train, and delegate work to appropriate staff; make recommendations for employment.
  • Assists in the preparation of the technology budget, monitors expenditures, maintains an inventory of purchases, and follows district accounting procedures.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to determine technology needs and develop modifications.
  • Participates inmeetings asassigned forthepurpose ofconveying and/orgathering information required to perform functions for the district.
  • Prepares various reports and studies for the purpose of providing information to the Board, the Superintendent, other staff and the public.
  • Remains current in the field of technology through ongoing training.
  • Regularly monitors user needs to assess and maintain high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned or delegated by the Superintendent.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge networking.
  • Demonstrated skill in program development and evaluation, staff supervision and evaluation, fiscal management, staff development, human relations, and technology utilization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of on-premise and cloud infrastructure including Active Directory, AWS, Google Apps for Education, Azure, etc.
  • Ability to effectively engage in the problem-solving process
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate groups to consensus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes.
  • Ability to establsh and maintain effective working relationships and a coureous attitude towards students, staff member and community groups.
  • Ability to plan, organize, implement, and manage projects and programs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to provide innovative and responsible leadership.
  • Ability to drive and work in different locations daily.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in information or computer science or related field and five years' experience in work related to the design, development, and implementation of technology and communications systems; or, a combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the job.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Classrooms, offices, other school facilities, and various meeting locations throughout the District and community. Travel required between locations regularly. Frequent interruptions and schedule changes. Required to deal with a wide range of situations, behaviors, and abilities. Requires frequent writing, standing, walking, and sitting.

Performs a variety of non-essential functions consistent with the scope and intent of this position.

REPORTS TO

Superintendent.

Special Requirements and Licenses

Valid Washington State Driver's License.

Current industry certification in Window server technology

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Washington State Law.
