As an intern at Northern Trust, you will have the opportunity to build relevant skills, work on meaningful projects, and participate in a collaborative program designed to support your early career development. You will work directly with your team on day-to-day tasks while joining internship program events to develop new skills, network with senior leaders, and connect with fellow interns in the program. Through hands‑on experience, meaningful project work, and exposure to a dynamic global business, you will begin to see how your interests can grow into a long‑term career at Northern Trust. Technology interns are fully integrated into engineering and technology teams, contributing to real financial solutions. Interns gain an inside look into the innovative technologies, practices, and business solutions that power a frontrunner in financial services.
Ten weeks
Located in Chicago, IL
Gain hands‑on experience transforming data into actionable insights while working alongside experienced data professionals, developing skills in data engineering, analytics, statistical modeling, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Contribute to real‑world projects involving data pipelines, business intelligence dashboards, AI‑driven solutions, and data‑driven research using modern technologies, while building a strong foundation in data architecture, governance, data quality, and scalable decision‑making practices. Every internship in technology regardless of discipline is likely to involve: some automation via coding, whether simple OS shell scripting, low code automations or other form. The use or development of some generative AI capabilities.
Salary is $35.00 USD per hour
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well‑being benefits.
Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
