Qualifications

• Certified in IV Contrast Administration.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient for imaging procedures including entering data into Epic.
• Obtain high-quality cross-sectional images for radiologist diagnosis.
• Assist radiologist during biopsy procedures.
• Process and display final images for interpretation by radiologists.

Job description

Job Summary

Under the direction of a radiologist, performs CT scan or MRI procedures at a technical level that does not require constant supervision. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis.

Essential Functions

• Patient and room preparation:
  • Enter patient data into Epic and other appropriate computer systems.
  • Place the patient on the scan table in the correct position.
  • Obtain the appropriate scout image for the procedure.
• Obtain cross‑sectional images: Set protocol and sequences to obtain high‑quality images for diagnosis by the radiologist.
• Direct involvement during procedure:
  • Assist the radiologist during biopsy procedures as needed.
  • Monitor progression of the biopsy procedure in the control room.
  • Operate injector when necessary.
• Photographing and processing images: Photograph and label scan images, process and display final images on viewing machines for radiologist interpretation; maintain records of image slices, injections, etc.
• Observe all rules and regulations regarding radiation safety for patients and staff.
• Train other associates and students in CT scan or MRI procedures.
• Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area.
• Perform duties of a 4T technologist as needed.
• Perform other related assigned tasks.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registered technologist (RT).
• ARRT registration in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) or CT required.
• Certified in IV Contrast Administration.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS).
• Previous MRI/CT experience preferred.
