Job summary

SimonMed Imaging in Santa Clara, CA is seeking a patient services associate to support front-desk operations in our outpatient radiology clinic. You will greet patients, verify insurance, check in/out, and coordinate with physicians and staff to ensure a smooth exam experience.

The role requires excellent communication, compassion for patients, and the ability to follow established guidelines. Prior experience in healthcare or medical office is a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-2 years of related experience.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and establish good working relationships with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in job-related skills for patient populations and departmental services.
• Administers patient registration, greets visitors, and manages check-in/check-out processes.
• Verifies insurance and informs patients of costs for care.
• Guides patients to resources and answers phones; relays messages.
• Assists with preparing patients for exams and escorts them to exam rooms.
• Interacts compassionately with patients across health spectrums; may start IVs depending on modality.
• Follows pre-established guidelines to perform duties.
• Performs assigned duties as needed.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrates competency in the performance of job related skills appropriate to his/her customer populations and departmental services.
• Directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the patient registration;
• Greets visitors/patients;
• Check-in process;
• Check-out process;
• Insurance verification process;
• Informs patients of costs for care being provided;
• Guides them to appropriate resources for further information.
• Answers telephones
• Relays messages.
• Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Prepares patients for exams by assisting with dressing and undressing, positioning patients for exams and escorting patients to and from the exam rooms.
• Must be able to interact compassionately and effectively with people who range from healthy to critically ill.
• Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures.May be required to start IVs; dependent on modality
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-2 years of related experience. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, sitting for prolonged periods of time, with frequent standing and walking.
