Technician (Welder Fabricator) (Manufacturing)

Marine fabricators work with aluminum, stainless steel, and other metals to build and repair boats and marine vessels. They cut, shape, join, and install metal components such as hulls, frames, fuel tanks, boarding ladders, rails, canopy bows, and custom fittings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Weld, fabricate, modify, and install marine hardware and ornamental features.
2. Work with various metals; possess TIG and MIG welding skills and basic fabrication abilities.
3. Maintain own tools and be available for overtime to meet deadlines.
4. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

1. Follow SHM safety and environmental policies and complete related training.
2. Wear appropriate PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, life jackets, and hard hats.
3. Report accidents, injuries, spills, and near misses immediately.

Technical and Physical Requirements

1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical training is a plus.
2. Proficiency in TIG and MIG welding and basic fabrication skills required.
3. Ability to climb ladders, carry tools, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds.
4. Basic boat handling skills are advantageous.
