Job Description
The welder is responsible for Mig, Tig, and Stick types of welding.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Examine workpieces for defects, and measure workpieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools.
- Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
- Operate Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment — running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts and passenger vehicles.
- Control Machines and Processes — using control mechanisms or physical activity to operate machines or processes (excluding computers or vehicles).
- Read blueprints and understand how to use a tape measure, level, and square.
- Select gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules.
- Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment.
- Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under, and around obstacles, using multi-point suspension techniques.
- Install ground rigging for yarding lines, attaching chokers to logs and then to the lines.
- Align, level, and anchor machinery.
- Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials such as heavy equipment, ships, or theatrical sets.
- Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, using bolts and clamps.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education):
- HS Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum three (3) years welding experience
- Minimum three (3) years construction industry experience
- Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment: hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
- Welding certification.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Performing physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting (up to 50 pounds), balancing, walking, and stooping.
Other Requirements:
- Must pass a drug screen test.
- Willing to complete pre-employment physical.

Additional Job Duties for Fabricator/Welder:
- Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints.
- Constructing base templates if necessary.
- Checking design specifications before cutting.
- Fabricating and constructing metal components.
- Grinding and finishing products.
- Performing quality checks on finished products.
- Adhering to safety regulations.
- Completing job reports.
