Job summary

Atkore in Kokomo, IN is seeking a Quality Technician for 1st shift to ensure quality on the production floor. You will measure and inspect parts, document results, and contain nonconforming items to prevent defects.

The role requires a high school diploma, 3+ years in quality inspections, and familiarity with precision measuring tools. You will work on the production floor, supporting packaging and labeling as needed.

Qualifications

Job description

Quality Technician: 1st Shift (currently 7:00 am – 3:30 pm)

We are currently looking for a Quality Technician to be based out of Kokomo Indiana, reporting to the Quality Supervisor. The Quality Technician will be responsible for ensuring quality parts are being produced during their shift and any nonconforming parts are properly contained.

What you’ll do:

• Adherence to Atkore Safety / Life Saving Rules is paramount.
• Knowledge of 5S, lean sustainment and problem solving.
• Measure, Inspect & document 1 st piece and ongoing production quality.
• Prevent non-conformances from escaping by exercising proper containment activities.
• Ensure adequate labelling of finished goods as well as properly identifying suspect, rework, or defective product.
• Ensure customer packaging requirements are met.
• Daily tasks are primarily on the production floor and include walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting up to 50 Lbs., etc. to perform inspections.
• All duties as instructed by supervision.

What You’ll bring:

• High school diploma required. Degree or technical degree preferred.
• 3+ years work-related experience in quality inspections, measurement and spec/print reading required.
• General understanding of SPC (Statistical Process Control) is a PLUS
• Working knowledge of AS400, and/or JD Edwards a plus
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer knowledge is a plus.
• Quality inspection & measurement experience.
• Ability to read customer specs/prints and distinguish acceptance criteria.
• Ability to operate and read various measuring devices.

• Strong math skills, convert decimals to fractions and vice versa, convert metric to standard, understand basic geometry and algebra for product design.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $19.77 -$23.49 per hour plus shift differential of $1.00 and a quarterly incentive with a 10% target. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
