Job summary

Atkore International is hiring a Quality Technician for 2nd shift based in Kokomo, Indiana. You will report to the Quality Supervisor and ensure quality parts are produced, with proper containment of any nonconforming items.

Day-to-day tasks include measuring and documenting first piece and ongoing production quality, labeling finished goods, and verifying customer packaging requirements. This role requires strong problem solving, 5S, GD&T knowledge, and the ability to read customer specs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; technical degree preferred.
• 3+ years in quality inspections, measurement, and spec/print reading.
• Familiarity with SPC is a plus.
• AS400 and/or JD Edwards knowledge is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety and Life Saving Rules.
• Measure, inspect, and document first piece and ongoing production quality.
• Contain non-conforming parts to prevent escapes.
• Label finished goods and identify suspect, rework, or defective product.
• Ensure customer packaging requirements are met.
• Perform inspections on the production floor, with lifting up to 50 lbs.

Quality Technician: 2nd Shift (currently 3:30 pm - 12:00 am)

Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Quality Technician to be based out of Kokomo Indiana, reporting to the Quality Supervisor. The Quality Technician will be responsible for ensuring quality parts are being produced during their shift and any nonconforming parts are properly contained.

What you'll do:

• Adherence to Atkore Safety / Life Saving Rules is paramount.
• Knowledge of 5S, lean sustainment and problem solving.
• Measure, Inspect & document 1st piece and ongoing production quality.
• Prevent non-conformances from escaping by exercising proper containment activities.
• Ensure adequate labelling of finished goods as well as properly identifying suspect, rework, or defective product.
• Ensure customer packaging requirements are met.
• Daily tasks are primarily on the production floor and include walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting up to 50 Lbs., etc. to perform inspections.
• All duties as instructed by supervision.

What You'll bring:

• High school diploma required. Degree or technical degree preferred.
• 3+ years work-related experience in quality inspections, measurement and spec/print reading required.
• General understanding of SPC (Statistical Process Control) is a PLUS
• Working knowledge of AS400, and/or JD Edwards a plus
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer knowledge is a plus.
• Quality inspection & measurement experience.
• Ability to read customer specs/prints and distinguish acceptance criteria.
• Ability to operate and read various measuring devices.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $19.77 -$23.49 per hour plus shift differential of $1.00 and a quarterly incentive with a 10% target. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
