Reporting into the Quality Supervisor, the Quality Technician position will be based out of our King of Prussia, PA site and will be responsible for performing QC duties on raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods under supervised conditions. Also, the Quality Technicial will aid in testing of materials in support of technical services, process engineering, and R&D.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of chemical, electrical, and physical tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods.
    • Record test results on lot records.
    • Document all non-conforming test results and communicate findings to Supervisor and/or Lead.
    • Approve reported testing results.
  • Enter sample data into QC database towards the creation of Certificates of Analyses.
  • Provide QC testing support of preliminary tests (off mill or in process) and more advanced or multi-step testing.
    • Preliminary testing can include all intermediates and finished goods. Solids, viscosity and FOG (fineness of grind) are principal preliminary tests.
  • Advanced or multi-step testing responsibilities which may include, but is not limited to, the following areas:
    • Rheological (includes viscosity)
    • Physical (includes adhesion, screen printing or visuals, solderability)
    • Electrical (includes sheet resistance, resistivity, conductance, voltage breakdown, dielectric constant, dissipation factor, surge, TCR)
    • Thermal (includes TGA, DSC, TMA)
  • Support the quality department through participation in short and long-term project responsibilities.
  • May provide training to qualify and other support personnel.
  • Incoming Inspection support
    • Input sample data into database and perform various lab techniques such as Surface Area, PSD, and Moisture Analysis.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, worksheets, and lot records.
  • Clean and organize the laboratory. Participate in the 5S Program.
  • Communicate to quality leadership and manufacturing personnel the status or disposition of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods as required.
  • Understand proper handling, labeling, and disposal of hazardous materials and their contents.
  • Understand proper use of PPE and job-related safety equipment.
  • May be assigned responsibility for disposal of lab waste such as hazardous materials (wipes, substrates, etc.)
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve lab operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

  • High school education or GED is required, preferably with exposure to algebra and chemistry.
  • Experience in test lab or instrumental analysis including courses in physical sciences or a related field. Other combinations of experience and education, which meet the minimum requirements, may be substituted.
  • Excellent hand eye coordination and the ability to make precise measurements using both manual devices and automated equipment.
  • Ability to make arithmetical computations (multiplication, division, percentage calculations, addition, and subtraction).
  • Ability to perform standard chemical, physical and electrical tests accurately and evaluate results.
  • Follow oral and written instructions exactly and prepare simple written reports on the results of lab tests performed.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
  • Work is performed in an office and/or laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, Power point, and Access.
  • Demonstrates a high level of ownership/commitment to achieve results.
  • Effectively presents and receives information both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, stand/sit for extended periods of time, and be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as respirator, gloves, safety glasses and lab coats.

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of elementary principles, practices, and techniques of chemical, physical and electrical testing.
  • Knowledge of the operation and care of laboratory equipment (including oven and belt furnaces).
  • Prior Experience in using or operating dimensional Measurement Machines (e.g. CMM, Micro-Vu or other similar equipment’s) would be a plus.

Hours/Shift:

  • First shift, Typically 7:00AM – 3:30PM
