Position Summary
Repair Technician
This is an entry-level position; previous instrument repair experience is not required as we will provide training.
- Perform surgical instrument inspection, repair, and refurbishment in a field-based setting, working out of mobile repair trucks at Customer sites and regional labs.
- Deliver superior Customer Experience by providing timely and quality repairs to meet compliance standards.
- Undergo a 7-year driving record check as part of onboarding.
- Must be able to travel up to 20% (overnight travel).
This is a remote, customer-facing position. Candidates must be based in West Virginia to support and service customers in this territory.
What You Will Do As A Repair Technician:
- Perform basic to intermediate repairs of surgical instruments, including ultrasonic function, metallurgy, buffing, polishing, bending, shaping, sharpening, hinge points, serrations, and brazing.
- Demonstrate quality performance in advanced skills such as Dremel operation, re-cup and re-jaw, laparoscopic inspection.
- Provide invoicing and documentation as needed.
- Work primarily inside a mobile repair truck, with frequent trips inside hospitals.
- Support various locations within the territory based on service agreements and customer needs.
- Follow all safety, health policies, and procedures, including use of PPE and safety observations.
- Comply with protocols for safe operation of mobile labs, including DOT policies.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed:
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience or 2+ years of work experience, verifiable.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and push instrument carts up to 150 pounds.
- Flexible schedule, including early/late hours, nights, and weekends.
- Minimum age of 21, with ability to meet FMCSA and driver's license requirements.
- Pass DOT medical/physical exam and comply with DOT regulations.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; maintaining required vaccines.
Relevant experience includes repair, assembly, product testing, use of small hand tools, small engine repair, electronics repair, carpentry, circuit board repair, sterile processing, automotive repair, etc.
