Position Summary

Repair Technician

You do not have to have previous instrument repair experience to be considered. This is an entry level job - we will train you!

  1. Perform surgical instrument inspection, repair, and refurbishment in a field-based setting, working out of mobile repair trucks at Customer sites and regional labs in more condensed markets.
  2. Deliver superior Customer Experience by providing timely and quality repairs to meet compliance standards.
  3. Undergo a 7-year driving record check as part of onboarding.
  4. Must have ability to travel up to 20% (overnight travel).

This is a remote-based Customer facing position. Candidates must be based out of West Virginia to support and service our customers in this territory.

What You Will Do As A Repair Technician:
  1. Perform repairs of surgical instruments, including ultrasonic function, metallurgy, buff and polish, bending, shaping, sharpening, hinge points, serrations, and brazing.
  2. Demonstrate quality performance in intermediate skilled work, including advanced Dremel operation, Re-cup and Re-jaw, laparoscopic inspection.
  3. Provide invoicing and documentation as needed.
  4. Work primarily inside a mobile repair truck, with frequent trips inside hospitals.
  5. Support various locations within the assigned territory based on service agreements and customer needs.
  6. Follow all safety, health policies, and procedures, using PPE as required.
  7. Operate mobile labs safely, adhering to all protocols including DOT regulations.
The Experience, Skills And Abilities Needed
  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. 2+ years of work experience, including at least 1 year relevant experience, or 1 year at STERIS, all verifiable.
  3. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and push instrument carts up to 150 pounds.
  4. Flexibility to work early/late hours, nights, and weekends as needed.
  5. Minimum age of 21, able to meet FMCSA and driver’s license requirements.
  6. Pass a DOT medical/physical exam and comply with DOT regulations.
  7. Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; maintain required vaccines.
  8. Related technical, mechanical certifications, military experience, or training may be considered.
Relevant Work Experience:

Experience with hands-on repair, assembly, or testing using small hand tools is a plus, including small engine repair, electronics, carpentry, circuit boards, sterile processing, automotive repair, etc.
