Location:

Northeast Region near a major airport, e.g., Boston, Southern New Hampshire, Hartford, Southern Connecticut, New York City area.

100% Remote with nearly 100% domestic travel

Standard Schedule:

Monday – Friday, hours vary; must be able to work weekends, early mornings, and some evenings

Compensation:

$27 - $46 per hour

Job Responsibilities:

The Service Technician–Mechanic travels to customer locations to install, maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and printing issues for Koenig & Bauer printing presses. The Service Technician interacts directly with the customer, listening to their needs and asking probing questions in preparation for the installation or service call. Must effectively communicate technical information and resolutions to customers with varying technical knowledge and abilities. The Technician must develop a plan of action to address customer issues, emphasizing quality work (fix it right the first time) and efficiency to minimize downtime and control costs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on Koenig & Bauer equipment at customer sites, including but not limited to adjustments on impression and transfer delivery bars, pump and inker issues, seals, register drives, ink key seals, clamps, bladder replacements, and troubleshooting crashes.
  • Install Koenig & Bauer equipment (40-inch and larger) and sub-supplier equipment, following blueprints from delivery to commissioning, including installing base units, inker placement, infeed, extension, delivery, and feeder; placement of pumps and cabinets.
  • Conduct thorough audits on presses, inspecting from feeder to delivery, identifying worn or damaged parts with an emphasis on safety. Prioritize repairs based on safety, quality, and production needs.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues using documentation, internal resources, and root cause analysis to accurately identify repairs.
  • Determine and execute repair plans, including parts procurement, scheduling with the customer, coordinating with the Service Department, and arranging necessary tools.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, including greeting customers, understanding their needs, informing them of findings and plans, and maintaining communication during repairs.
  • Complete all required records accurately, including parts used, time, expenses, and work performed.
  • Adhere to all customer policies and safety procedures while on-site.
  • Perform other related duties as needed based on business requirements.
Required Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED; post-secondary technical certification preferred, especially in printing or industrial maintenance.

Experience: Minimum of two years related experience in printing, press manufacturing, or industrial maintenance.

Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in email, internet, word processing, spreadsheets, and business software.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience with hand tools such as wrenches, ratchets, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical CAD drawings.
