Job summary

Röchling Medical is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on Arburg injection molding machines and related support equipment. The role requires hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting in clean room environments and adherence to strict contamination-control practices.

Responsibilities include completing work orders, PM records, and repair documentation while coordinating with Production, Quality, Tool Room, and Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing plastic injection molding machines and manufacturing support equipment.
• Experience with Arburg injection molding machines is strongly preferred.
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills with proven safe troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

Your role Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on Arburg injection molding machines and related support equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, heating, cooling, and control-related issues affecting press operation and production uptime.
• Support Arburg machine systems including clamp, injection, ejector, heaters, thermocouples, hydraulic units, servo drives, guarding, alarms, safety circuits, and machine utilities.
• Maintain and repair auxiliary molding equipment such as material dryers, vacuum loaders, mold temperature controllers, chillers, cooling/process water systems, hot runner controllers, ultrasonic cleaning equipment, and compressed air equipment.
• Perform maintenance on tool room equipment including mills, EDM equipment, surface grinders, drill presses, saws, benches, vises, inspection tools, and general shop support equipment.
• Complete assigned work orders, PM records, repair notes, parts usage, and follow-up actions accurately and on time.
• Work in clean rooms and controlled manufacturing areas while following gowning, sanitation, contamination-control, and tool-cleanliness requirements.
• Use proper Lockout/Tagout, PPE, electrical safety, machine guarding, hot-surface precautions, and safe lifting practices during all maintenance activities.
• Read and use equipment manuals, PM instructions, electrical schematics, pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams, and maintenance procedures to complete work correctly. Required Skills/Abilities:
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience repairing injection molding machines; Arburg experience preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, temperature-control, water-cooling, and machine-utility problems.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, meters, test equipment, shop tools, and basic fabrication/repair equipment.
• Working knowledge of clean room expectations, gowning practices, sanitation requirements, and contamination prevention.
• Ability to complete work orders, PM checklists, maintenance logs, and repair documentation clearly and accurately.
• Good time management and ability to prioritize urgent production repairs while completing scheduled PM work.
• Strong safety mindset with knowledge of Lockout/Tagout, PPE, machine guarding, electrical safety, and chemical handling practices.
• Team-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work professionally with Production, Quality, Tool Room, Engineering, and Maintenance team members. Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical, trade school, military maintenance, or industrial maintenance training preferred.
• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing plastic injection molding machines and manufacturing support equipment preferred.
• Experience with Arburg injection molding machines, clean room manufacturing, tool room equipment, and auxiliary molding systems strongly preferred.
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills with a proven track record of safe troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance in a manufacturing environment. Work Environment:
• Manufacturing and clean room environment requiring proper gowning, sanitation, and contamination-control practices.
• Appropriate eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, and other PPE are required based on the task and work area.
• Exposure may include production equipment, hot surfaces, oils/greases, compressed air, electrical panels, moving equipment, and tool room machinery.
• Must be able to work around injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, clean room areas, and tool room equipment while following all safety requirements.
• Position may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, lifting, carrying parts/tools, and responding to equipment downtime needs.
