Job summary

HKA Enterprises is seeking a field technician to install, operate, locate, maintain, and repair water distribution infrastructure in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The role focuses on mains, service lines, hydrants, valves, PRVs, and meters, with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and teamwork.

The position is unionized with a probationary period. Training and benefits accompany the role, and on-call shifts may be required. A valid NM driver\'s license and a high school diploma or GED are required.

Qualifications

  • Valid New Mexico driver\'s license is required.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Basic knowledge of operation and maintenance of water/wastewater systems.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools used in maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine servicing and corrective maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
  • Clean vehicles, heavy equipment, pumps, tools and other equipment.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles and tools for loading/unloading sand, gravel, dirt, and waste.
  • Maintain grounds and buildings; trim vegetation.
  • Follow oral and written directions and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with team and respond to management requests.
  • Attend on-call shifts as needed and be ready for call-ins.

Job description

Install, operate, locate, maintain, and repair water distribution infrastructure, including water mains, service lines, hydrants, valves, PRVs, and meters. Establish and maintain effective sample procedures for water lines, diagnose system operating problems, and perform necessary corrective and remedial activities. Union position with a POST probationary period. Pay: $19.44 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine servicing and corrective maintenance of water and wastewater systems
  • Clean vehicles, heavy equipment, pumps, tools, and other stationary and potable equipment
  • Perform routine inspection of vehicles and equipment
  • Operate and maintain vehicles, equipment, and tools required to load, unload, haul, and spread sand, gravel, dirt, and/or waste products; dig and refill ditches and trenches
  • Maintain grounds and buildings — cut grass, weeds, and brush; trim trees and bushes; rake grass, leaves, and trash; seed and care for lawn and ornamental plantings
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Work safely and adhere to established safety procedures
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work
  • Carry and respond to pages as requested by management
  • Work on-call shifts as requested, including being fit and able to respond to call-ins in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic knowledge of the operation and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, farm machinery, pumps, and equipment used in and around water and wastewater systems
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools and equipment commonly used in the maintenance of vehicles, equipment, structures, and buildings
  • Basic knowledge of water systems operations and maintenance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of the operation and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, farm machinery, pumps, and equipment used in and around water and wastewater systems
