Job summary

SolveNow Inc. is seeking a skilled locator to identify and mark underground utilities and support water distribution projects in New Mexico. The role requires driving, field locating, and use of maps and field tools.

The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of line locating experience, knowledge of underground water systems, and a strong safety record, with CDL preferred. On-site work, with potential for on-call shifts and regular maintenance tasks.

  • Familiarity with hand and power tools and equipment commonly used in the maintenance of vehicles, equipment, structures, and buildings.
  • 2-5 years' Experience working In the Water utility field.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and mark the location of underground utility lines and other infrastructure.
  • Assist with installs, locates, and repairs of water distribution infrastructure.
  • Perform routine servicing and corrective maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
  • Locate and mark underground City water, wastewater, and reclaimed water services.
  • Read diagrams, as-built and maps for locating utilities.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles, equipment, and tools for loading, hauling, and trench work.
  • Maintain grounds and buildings and ensure safety.

BASIC Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with hand and power tools and equipment commonly used in the maintenance of vehicles, equipment, structures, and buildings.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for identifying and marking the location of underground utility lines and other infrastructure (i.e., water and wastewater). Also, assist as needed with installs, locates, and repairs of water distribution infrastructure, including water mains, service lines, hydrants, valves, PRVs, and meters; Perform necessary corrective and remedial activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs routine servicing and corrective maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
  • Locates and marks underground City water, wastewater, and reclaimed water services by utilizing provided Maps and tools
  • Cleans vehicles, heavy equipment, pumps, tools, and other stationery and portable equipment.
  • Performs routine inspection of vehicles and equipment.
  • Knowledge of hooking up and towing equipment
  • Performs Minor Preventive Maintenance.
  • Read Diagrams, as-built and Maps (e.g., vision view, Field Maps, Etc.)
  • Operates and maintains vehicles, equipment, and tools required to load, unload, haul, and spread sand, gravel, dirt, and/or waste products; digs; and refills ditches and trenches.
  • Maintains grounds and buildings; cuts grass, weeds, and brush; trims trees and bushes; rakes grass; leaves and trash; seeds; and cares for lawn and ornamental plantings.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools and equipment commonly used in the maintenance of vehicles, equipment, structures, and buildings.
  • Understands and carries out oral and written directions.
  • Works safely and adheres to established safety procedures
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during work.
  • Follow all project SOPs, policies, and procedures relating to inventory control management of checking out and returning inventory.
  • Ability to carry and respond to pages as requested by management.
  • Ability and willingness to work on-call shifts, as requested, including being fit and able to respond to call-ins in a timely manner.
  • Review and interpret plans and design drawings to determine the location of underground utilities
  • Communicate effectively with other members of the construction team to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of underground utility locations
  • Resolve complex technical issues related to the location of underground utilities
  • Stay up to date with industry regulations and best practices, and incorporate these into work processes
  • Provide training and support to junior locators as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
