Job summary

Saber Power Services is seeking a Technician II to perform electrical testing, maintenance, and startup services for high voltage substations along the Gulf Coast. The role requires up to 50% travel and on-site work at customer sites.

Candidates should possess strong electrical fundamentals, substation knowledge, and a safety-first mindset. Excellent communication with clients and team members is essential.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals
• Broad knowledge of the major components of a substation
• Knowledge of drafting standards and drawings for substations
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE and ANSI codes (Electrical)
• Knowledge of ground grid theory and design (Electrical)
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to travel 50%

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical testing services on power apparatus, substations, and switchgear (protective relaying, breakers, transformers, meters, cables, grounding, batteries, and alarms).
• Troubleshoot and identify problems; recommend corrective action and/or repairs.
• Generate technical reports detailing services and findings.
• Represent the company professionally with clients; communicate status with management; coordinate manpower and equipment.
• Maintain safety as a core priority and adhere to Zero Tolerance policy.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Saber Power Services seeks a professional, dedicated individual with a positive outlook for our Technician II to p erform electrical testing, maintenance, and start-ups of high voltage substations in Mobile, AL.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform electrical testing services on power apparatus, substations, and switchgear included (but not limited to) the following:
  • Protective relaying and relaying systems
  • Circuit Breakers
  • Power Transformers
  • Current and Potential Transformers
  • Meters, Transducers, and Power system metering
  • Power Cables
  • Grounding Systems
  • Motors and Motor Starters
  • Station Batteries and Chargers
  • Alarm systems and Annunciators
  • Personal Protective Equipment
• Perform troubleshooting and problem identification and analysis. Make recommendations regarding corrective action and/or repairs
• Generate technical reports detailing services provided, problems found, and corrective action taken or recommended
• Represent the company in a professional manner regarding communicating and interfacing with clients
• Communicate effectively with the company management team on a regular basis regarding project status and the scheduling of manpower and equipment
• Always make safety a top priority, realizing that the company has Zero Tolerance for those who do otherwise
• Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.

Qualifications:

• Power DB knowledge a plus
• Word processing, spread sheet and e-mail software
• Mathematics, including algebra and trigonometry
• Broad knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals (Electrical)
• Broad knowledge of the major components of a substation
• Broad knowledge of control and protection systems (Electrical)
• Knowledge of high-voltage electric field theory (Electrical)
• Broad knowledge of electrical code and standards (NEC, NESC, and applicable IEEE and ANSI) (Electrical)
• Broad knowledge of civil / structural codes and standards (NESC, and applicable IEEE, ANSI, AISC and ACI) (Civil / Structural)
• Broad knowledge of the function of major electrical equipment
• Broad knowledge of ground grid theory and design (Electrical)
• Effective oral and written communications
• Knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation
• Knowledge of drafting standards
• Working in a team environment
• Communicating effectively with co-workers
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to travel 50% required
