The Tech I/II position focuses on the installation of network hardware infrastructure in educational and professional settings. This is primarily an INSTALLATION role, so candidates must thoroughly understand the responsibilities outlined below before applying. While this position offers a great entry point into IT networking, it is highly demanding. We emphasize the importance of fully grasping the expectations to ensure team alignment.
This position is based in Tampa, Florida, and candidates must reside within a 1-hour commute of the job sites. Our technician teams are engaged in a significant 1-2 year project in the Tampa Bay area. We seek skilled network technicians who will be a good fit for our team. We value strong employee engagement and are looking for dedicated candidates.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Effective Communication: Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors.
- Follow Directions: Take guidance from on-site supervisors and act accordingly.
- Punctuality: Be consistently on time; notify supervisors at least one hour in advance if unable to attend.
- Dress Code: Wear pants and a Netsync shirt during installations.
- Driver’s License: Possess a valid, non-expired driver’s license.
- Background and Drug Screening: Pass drug tests and background checks.
- Age Requirement: Be 18 years or older.
- Team Player: Work collaboratively and professionally with teammates.
- Reliable Transportation: Have dependable transportation to job sites.
- Flexible Hours: Be available for varied shifts, including 4 PM - 12 AM and 8 AM - 5 PM.
- Work Hours: Be prepared for long hours with minimal breaks.
- Availability: Be on standby after device cutover for support as needed.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to squat, bend, and reach without limitations.
- Documentation Comprehension: Follow deployment documentation accurately.
- Commute: Drive at least 1 hour to sites daily.
- Work Environment: Work in hot conditions as required.
Skills and Experience
Required IT Experience
- Experience with racking, stacking, and powering switch devices.
- Ability to perform port migration between devices.
- Familiarity with Cisco platforms and devices.
- Proficiency in managing power, stacking, and Ethernet cabling.
- Ability to install and power UPS devices, including lifting 50-70 lbs.
- Skilled in connecting Ethernet cables and documenting setups.
- Comfort working on ladders for high device installations.
- Adherence to safety and installation documentation standards.
Preferred but Not Required
- Cable management and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with fiber uplinks and testing connectivity.
- Ability to follow professional directions and verify device operation.
Tools for Efficiency
- Basic tools like screwdrivers and snips are required.
- Cordless drills are optional but can improve efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, associate's, or bachelor's degree.
- CCNA or other Cisco certifications are a plus.
