Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company in Lorton, Virginia is seeking a Technician to keep our fleet of heavy equipment, cranes and diesel trucks in optimal condition. The role requires hands-on maintenance, diagnostics and on-site support at shops or jobsites.

Responsibilities include diagnosing failures, recording repair time, testing equipment, ordering parts, and maintaining logs. A valid driver's license and own tools are required, with pre-employment DOT screening.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Technician for heavy equipment, cranes, or diesel trucks.
• Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass background checks for secure facility access.
• Own tools adequate to perform all job functions.
• Locations include the maintenance shop and jobsites; pre-employment DOT physical/drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose failures for vehicles/equipment and notify Fleet Manager of issues.
• Keep record of time spent on repairs including what repairs/maintenance was performed.
• Test drive/operate vehicles/equipment to ensure they are in perfect working condition.
• Procure, order, and track parts required for repairs/maintenance.
• Inspect fleet when checked in/out to ensure deficiencies are corrected prior to returning to working order.
• Maintain daily logs, safety & inspection reports, and project reports.
• Willing to perform manual labor related tasks to support projects.
• Ensure the company’s health and safety culture, policies and requirements are met.
