Service TechnicianJob Purpose:Perform vehicle diagnosis, maintenance, and repair services in accordance with dealership, manufacturer, and industry standards. The Service Technician is responsible for efficiently diagnosing and repairing vehicles while maintaining high-quality workmanship, productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction.Key Responsibilities:Vehicle Diagnosis & RepairPerform vehicle inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair services on customer and dealership vehiclesDiagnose mechanical, electrical, diesel, drivability, suspension, steering, brake, and other vehicle concerns accurately and efficientlyPerform repairs according to manufacturer specifications and dealership standardsComplete warranty, customer-pay, and internal repair work as assignedConduct road tests and vehicle inspections to verify repair completion and vehicle performanceIdentify additional repair or maintenance needs and communicate findings appropriatelyMaintain productivity and efficiency standards in a flat-rate work environmentEnsure repairs are completed accurately and within established time guidelinesRepair Order & Documentation ResponsibilitiesAccurately document diagnosis, repair procedures, parts usage, and labor operations on repair ordersFollow manufacturer warranty policies, procedures, and documentation requirementsMaintain accurate and timely completion of repair order documentationUtilize dealership management systems (DMS), diagnostic equipment, and manufacturer software programs effectivelyCommunicate repair status and technical information with Service Advisors and management as neededAssist with quality control and verification of completed repairs when appropriateShop Operations & SafetyMaintain organization and cleanliness of work areas, shop equipment, and dealership propertyProperly use and maintain dealership tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipmentFollow all dealership safety policies, OSHA requirements, and manufacturer repair proceduresMaintain professional working relationships with coworkers, management, vendors, and customersAttend dealership meetings, manufacturer training, and certification programs as requiredStay current on manufacturer technical bulletins, repair procedures, and product updatesUphold confidentiality regarding customer and dealership informationPerform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by managementJob Qualifications:Required QualificationsPrevious automotive technician experience requiredStrong mechanical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skillsAbility to diagnose and repair vehicle systems accurately and efficientlyAbility to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced flat-rate environmentStrong attention to detail and quality workmanshipProfessional appearance and positive attitudeStrong organizational and time management skillsBasic computer proficiency requiredAbility to learn and utilize manufacturer diagnostic systems and dealership software programsDependable attendance and punctuality requiredAbility to maintain confidentiality regarding customer and dealership informationAbility to follow dealership policies, procedures, and safety standardsValid driver’s license with acceptable driving record requiredAbility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs requirePreferred QualificationsPrevious Ford dealership experience preferredFord certification or ASE certifications preferredPrevious flat-rate technician experience preferredDiesel, drivability, electrical, alignment, or heavy-duty repair experience preferredExperience using dealership management systems (DMS), manufacturer diagnostic equipment, and repair software preferredAbility to perform advanced diagnostics and repair procedures preferredExperience working in high-volume dealership service environments preferredBilingual communication skills are a plusPhysical Requirements:Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, reach, and work in various physical positionsAbility to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull parts, tools, and equipment up to 50 poundsAbility to occasionally lift and move heavier objects with assistance or proper equipmentAbility to work in a fast-paced dealership service environmentAbility to regularly use hands and fingers for tools, equipment, and computer-related functionsAbility to work around moving mechanical parts, automotive equipment, chemicals, fumes, and varying temperaturesAbility to safely operate customer and dealership vehiclesAbility to regularly perform repetitive hand, arm, and body movements during repair proceduresThe physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
