Job summary

C Spire is seeking a Technician I to join our fiber team in Alabama. You will splice fiber, read schematics, and support OSP extensions, working with a team to ensure quality construction and reliable service.

This role offers a solid entry path into telecom operations and hands-on growth with experienced mentors. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and the ability to learn fiber plant maintenance, with strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to engage in hands-on work across field

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Some work experience in telecommunications preferred.
• Ability to learn and develop knowledge of fiber plant maintenance in telecom.

Responsibilities

• Read splicing records and splice fiber as directed by supervisor.
• Demonstrate knowledge of testing and troubleshooting fiber optics.
• Make changes and document test results.
• Read engineering drawings and relate them to physical plant.
• Assist in physical cable placement.
• Assist in coordinating OSP extensions with other departments.
• Perform detailed visual inspections of OSP construction for quality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Do

In all of your duties, you will have a relentless, obsessive, yet disciplined approach to manage all details to perfection and deliver desired results.

For Positions At Level I, Your Duties Would Include

• Read splicing records and splice fiber as directed by supervisor.
• Demonstrate a functioning knowledge of testing and troubleshooting fiber optics.
• Make as-needed changes and document test results.
• Read engineering drawings and correlate them to physical plant.
• Assist in physical cable placement.
• Assist in coordination of OSP extensions and with other departments.
• Perform detailed visual inspections of OSP construction for quality and adherence to standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
