What you’ll do...Role summary:

The (USA) Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration, is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems across commercial and industrial facilities. This role involves interpreting technical schematics, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Technician leads preventive maintenance efforts, manages refrigerant handling, and supports operational efficiency through effective communication and teamwork. Operating company vehicles and coordinating service calls within assigned regions are essential. This position requires adherence to safety protocols and collaboration with management to uphold quality and continuous improvement in facility services.

The General Facilities Maintenance team delivers timely, high-quality services in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration to ensure safe and efficient facility operations. They manage work orders, coordinate with contractors, and adhere to safety and regulatory standards. Focused on continuous improvement, the team applies technical expertise and fosters collaboration to support business needs. Their dedication upholds Walmart’s operational standards and contributes to a positive environment for associates and customers. This team plays a vital role in maintaining facility functionality and reliability across multiple locations.

What you’ll do

• Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork and control panels, ensuring compliance with building codes and operational standards.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration units, walk-ins, and HVAC systems to maximize equipment longevity and efficiency.
• Conduct inspections and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R regulations, including refrigerant handling and documentation.
• Lead and mentor field teams, supporting technical training and safety practices.
• Manage service calls, coordinate resources, and communicate technical information effectively with customers and management.
• Operate company vehicles safely to complete service assignments within assigned regions.

What you’ll bring

• Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings.
• Strong ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and building codes to ensure accurate system configuration.
• Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols.
• Capability to lead field teams and mentor less-experienced technicians on technical and safety practices.
• Effective communication skills to explain technical issues and service outcomes to customers.
• Ability to manage service calls, coordinate with vendors, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Valid driver’s license and experience operating company vehicles safely.

The hourly wage range for this position is $29.00 - $58.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications

Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

• Option 1: Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
• Option 2: 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
• Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
• Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.
• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years. Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years. No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years. No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

• Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical HVAC/R program.
• Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

• Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
