Job Summary
The position of Fabrication Technician handles oversight and execution of fabricating all types of residential and commercial gate systems. The ideal person for this position is highly skilled in all types of gate systems and can read drawings and plans. This person will work with the Installation Superintendent and the Installation Technicians to assure we provide a high-quality product to our valued customers.

- Provides a positive, collaborative, and informative customer service experience to both residential and commercial customers.
- Diagnoses the nature of the issue triggering the service call. Confirms authorization to perform the repair, scope, and warranty-related issues are resolved before beginning work.
- Performs all necessary preventative and corrective maintenance. Welds, wires, and programs customer equipment as required by the nature of the service call.
- Read shop drawings and follow dimensions within 1/16th tolerance.
- Cut and prep steel material to fabricate gate frames
- Ensures all workplace health and safety requirements are met. Maintains housekeeping and security of customer locations and job sites.
- Ensures materials operate as intended and as desired by the customer.
- Closes out the call in Service Titan. Documents the scope of work completed and identifies any other malfunctioning customer equipment or opportunities for additional work.
- Read plans & prep materials.
- Fabrication of gates at a high level.
- Maintain inventory levels for welding machines, gas and steel.
- Quality Assurance.
- Loading of Gates.
- Unloading / receiving of materials using forklift.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
- Education and/or experience equivalent a High School diploma and 3 or more years working with gate operators, electronic controls, or other low-voltage electrical systems, or similar trade-related experience. Associates degree or vocational program with a focus on electro-mechanical systems preferred.
- Familiarity with basic welding principles preferred.
- Field and/or fabrication experience in the gate industry of 5+ years. Organized and able to prioritize projects and handle multiple projects at once. Welding experience of 5+ years.
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification preferred.
- Proper use of power tools; mig weld steel, mig weld aluminum, mig weld stainless steel, angle grinder, large band saw and chop saw & ironworker.

- Communications: Able to communicate effectively in written and oral format with diverse individuals. Able to present information and respond to questions with peers, managers, clients, customers, and the general public on technical subjects. Able to read and comprehend written work instructions, technical documents, blueprints, manufacturer instruction manuals and other materials in English.
- Math: Able to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using standard units of measure and weight.
- Reasoning: Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to develop logical troubleshooting techniques based on an understanding of the product performance and test requirements.
- Time Management: Able to track and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with several simultaneous projects/work orders. Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Technology: Knowledge of email, texting, and work order systems sufficient for basic communication, reporting, and notes.
- Physical Requirements: Able to push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs. frequently throughout the day. Able to stand, climb, walk, kneel, and crouch frequently, as required at a variety of customer locations/work sites.
- Driving: Able to operate a motor vehicle for extended periods of time and possess a clean driving record.
Work Environment
The physical environment for this position includes construction sites, warehouses, and outdoor customer locations. Frequently required to use and promote use of personal protective equipment to prevent injury.
Travel Required
Frequent day travel to and from job sites, vendor locations, and offices.
