Job summary

AutoGate Inc., located in Berlin Heights, OH, is hiring for a gate fabrication role. You will oversee adherence to production schedules and safely operate metalworking equipment to fabricate ornamental and chain-link gates from aluminum and steel per blueprints and travelers.

You will read weld symbols and prints, lay out components, and assist engineering to resolve print issues while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency on the shop floor.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Follow prints and travelers to meet customer specifications.

  • Inspect parts for quality and report nonconformities to supervisor.
  • Train new hires and support other departments to reduce waste.

Job DetailsJob Location: AutoGate Inc - Berlin Heights, OH 44814Position Type: Full TimeJob Shift: First ShiftJob Category: ManufacturingSummary: Responsible for overseeing and assure adherence to the production schedule and the effective operation of the Gate Fabrication department relative to safety, consistency of procedures and process, quality, productivity, and waste. The individual in this position will also fit and layout components, weld aluminum and steel component parts to make gate assemblies per blueprints and job travelers. Work with engineering to resolve print issues; with production support and supervisor to resolve job traveler questions and troubleshoot production floor issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Safely set up and operator metal working equipment such as horizontal band saw, drill press, tube roller, punches, abrasive pipe notcher, and welding machines needed to fabricate steel and aluminum ornamental and / or chain-link gates, fence sections, and panel extensions.
  • Follows print and job traveler instructions to assure compliance with customer specifications.
  • Lay out and positioning of components timely and accurately without assistance
  • Bolt, clamp, and tack weld parts in place to secure for welding operations safely and accurately.
  • Administer welding test and assess capability of potential Gate Fab employees.
  • Records all activities timely and accurately on paperwork and in production software system.
  • Inspects parts as required to assure quality product is being produced.
  • Immediately notifies supervisor if component parts or parts being made are nonconforming or there is an issue making quality product.
  • Trains new hires for the department
  • Works with other departments to troubleshoot and correct process deficiencies and eliminate waste.
  • Assures department understands and carries out any temporary work instructions or process changes
  • Works with supervisors to provide tools, resources, and positive support for team success.

QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA’s):

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or three (3) to six (6) months related experience and/or training in similar environment. Two (2) years of the following: Welding experience. Manufacturing experience a plus, able to read weld symbols, blue prints proficiently. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Must be able to read tape measure to 32nds of an inch. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While welding, the employees is required to wear safety shoes and a welding helmet when welding.
