Job summary

Ag Partners Cooperative is seeking a Fabricator/Welder to provide maintenance, welding and fabrication across our facilities. The role works with metal, interprets prints, and applies MIG, TIG and Arc welding to complete projects.

You will operate tools, perform PMs, ensure safety, maintain housekeeping and report to work on time. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, basic math, and the ability to use tape measures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret simple drawings and plans.
  • Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Arc welding techniques.
  • Good math skills and ability to convert decimals to fractions.
  • Crane Operator Certification or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding and fabrication across company facilities and equipment.
  • Set up welding equipment and perform PMs as required.
  • Use tape measure and hand tools; maintain safety and housekeeping.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, employees and management; report overtime as needed.

Job description

Summary

The Fabricator/Welder position is responsible for providing maintenance, welding, and fabrication work across the company to facilities and equipment as needed.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Uses various metals and works with equipment such as the lathe, mill, drill press, surface grinder, etc.
  • Performs PMs and sets up welding equipment as required.
  • Requires use and familiarization with a tape measure and hand tools.
  • Must be able to perform simple math and decimal-to-fraction conversions.
  • Applies various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Arc, etc.) for fabrication and repair purposes.
  • Interprets prints, drawings, plans, or job write-ups and applies fabrication or welding techniques to complete projects.
  • Uses various mechanical hand and power tools/equipment.
  • Promotes company and employee cohesiveness through effective communication, teamwork and shared services.
  • Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management.
  • Adherence to safety policies and providing safety leadership.
  • Promoting and adhering to the company Core Values of honesty, integrity & teamwork.
  • Possessing excellent organizational skills, attentive to detail and accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Responsible for daily housekeeping of work area.
  • Secures facilities and equipment when closing.
  • Promptly and regularly reporting to work and work overtime hours as needed.
  • Present a clean and professional appearance.
  • Employee is required to perform all other duties as directed.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer skills required. Ability to navigate and successfully use internet browsers, email, and a variety of other software programs required to complete daily business functions.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

Commercial Driver’s License Class B with Haz-Mat Endorsement, Air Brake Endorsement, Tanker Endorsement. Required to have Crane Operator Certification or the ability to obtain.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
