Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking a versatile Technician to join the technical team, delivering support for theatre and live events across County Durham. The role covers a range of venues and exciting projects, contributing to high-quality experiences for audiences and artists.

The post is temporary for 6 months, with potential for flexible working arrangements where applicable. First Aid qualification is required or to be obtained, and a relevant theatre qualification or equivalent experience is

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

Are you passionate about live events, theatre, and bringing unforgettable experiences to life? We’re looking for a Technician to join our dynamic technical team and play a key role in delivering an exciting programme of cultural events across County Durham.

From theatre productions and live performances to festivals and community events, no two days are the same. You’ll provide technical support for a diverse range of events at our iconic venues, Gala Durham, Empire Consett, and Bishop Auckland Town Hall as well as exciting events taking place across the county.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a wide variety of established productions and innovative new projects, collaborating with talented colleagues to create exceptional experiences for audiences of all ages.

This post is temporary for 6 months.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

We’re looking for a versatile, enthusiastic Technician with experience in the theatre and live events industry, who has strong technical knowledge and a passion for delivering outstanding experiences for audiences and artists alike.

  • A relevant theatre technical qualification, NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent), or demonstrable equivalent industry experience.
  • A current First Aid qualification, or a willingness to achieve one as part of your development.
  • Experience working across a range of theatre and live event environments, with the skills and flexibility to support a high-quality technical service.
