Job summary

Bristol SU is seeking a hands‑on Student Technician to support live events across our venues, including the Anson Rooms and student society productions.

You will operate sound, lighting and AV gear, carry out checks, and help improve how we manage technical resources. This role suits reliables and communicative team players eager to gain experience with students and external clients.

Qualifications

• Experience in live event settings, running lighting or sound.
• Comfortable operating audio desks, lighting consoles, projectors and other in‑venue equipment.
• Know how to set up, test and fault‑find technical equipment to keep events running smoothly.
• Strong communication, teamwork and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Take responsibility for Health and Safety during event prep and delivery.

Job description

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about live events and wants to join our technical team to help deliver a wide range of events across our venues. You’ll support the setup, operation and delivery of events including student society productions, Bristol SU events and external bookings. Working across spaces including theatre venues and our 1200-capacity Anson Rooms, you’ll help provide technical and logistical support, operating sound, lighting, AV equipment and other event systems to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Alongside event delivery, you’ll help look after our equipment and spaces by carrying out checks, supporting basic maintenance and helping improve how we manage our technical resources.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands‑on, solving problems and working with students, clients and other teams. Whether you’re experienced in technical events or looking to develop your skills, we’re looking for someone enthusiastic, reliable and keen to get involved.
