Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our Lafayette, LA team. The role requires an Associate’s degree in a chemical or biological science and an LSBME license. Preferred qualifications include Labcorp experience, 1 year of clinical lab testing, and ASCP/AMT certification.

The position follows a rotating schedule and emphasizes accurate test results, maintenance of instruments, and adherence to safety protocols in a dynamic laboratory environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
  • Louisiana State (LSBME) license.
  • ASCP or AMT certification preferred; 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Labcorpis seeking a Technician to join our team in Lafayette, LA

This position follows a rotating schedule:
  • One week: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Following week: 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Every 6th weekend: Work approximately 4–5 hours each day on Saturday and Sunday. Weekend shifts are not full 8-hour shifts.

  • Current or priorLabcorpexperience
  • 1 yearor moreof previous clinical laboratory testing experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification
Additional Job Standards
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
