Job summary

Labcorp, a global leader in laboratory services, seeks a Technologist for the Houston, TX team. Schedule Tue–Sat, 5:00 pm–1:00 am, with weekend coverage as needed.

You will determine specimen acceptability, perform routine and complex tests, monitor and troubleshoot instruments, and ensure timely, accurate results for patient care. Bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science and 2+ years of lab experience are required, along with ASCP or AMT certification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
  • 2+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
  • ASCP or AMT certification.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join our team in Houston, TX.

Work Schedule

Tuesday through Saturday: 5:00 pm to 1:00 am. Weekend coverage as needed.

Job Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • 2 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification
Preferred Qualification
  • Current or prior Labcorp experience
Additional Job Standards
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.

Employees who are regularly scheduled toworka 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO,
