Summary/General Job Description

Assist Engineers/Scientists in product development and new processes to meet market needs. Responsibilities include producing samples, testing, and characterization with minimal guidance.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Perform laboratory work involving development and scale-up of processes for electronic packaging products.
  2. Batch formulas, process into products, perform tests, create records, communicate results, and perform fixes.
  3. Operate manufacturing equipment and test instruments proficiently.
  4. Understand the KOP documentation trail, including shop orders, raw materials, lot numbering, specifications, tagging, Certificates of Analysis, and shipping.
  5. Familiarize with KOP ISO procedures and adhere to them.
  6. Follow R&D Stage and Gate process, update databases, and maintain lab notebooks (electronic and paper).
  7. Manage R&D inventory and dispose of old documents properly.
  8. Maintain good housekeeping, organization, and safety in labs, using safety labels appropriately.
  9. Participate in customer/vendor interface and attend technical conferences as needed.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Associates degree with 2 years of college-level Chemistry and/or Physics preferred, or 4+ years’ experience as a laboratory technician in electronic materials or related industry. Knowledge of laboratory safety practices. Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Travel Requirements

Travel is generally not expected but may be required to visit customers or attend technical conferences.

Competencies/Job Skills
  • Knowledge of duties, products, and current practices.
  • Technical skills, including operation of specialty equipment and test methods; screen printing and 3-roll milling skills are preferred.
  • Sense of urgency in prioritizing work and meeting deadlines.
  • Decision-making skills, data gathering, and communication; experience with statistical tools is preferred.
  • Computer skills, including data compilation, summaries, and SAP usage.
Physical Demands

Must be in good physical condition, able to lift up to 20 lbs, stand and walk in labs for up to 8 hours, and have good hearing and vision. Able to give verbal reports and presentations.

Maintain compliance with all relevant EHS regulations and standards at all times.
